This was a requested tutorial, and I’ve actually never done a French Twist, this is my first attempt at it.
And I tried to do it with a bump, and without a bump.
So to start off, you’re going to need these open pins.
I found these easier to keep the French twist in place.
Now I’m going to section my hair off in the front for the moment, and clip these out of the way.
Now with the crown area, I’m going to backcomb each section.
Then hairspray each section, just to get a bit of volume.
( If you want a bump) Then when you’re happy with the volume, just flip your hair over, and it’ll be a little bit crazy, so don’t mind that.
Then with a soft bristle brush, you’re going to gently brush over the top of your bump, to make it nice and smooth.
When you’ve done this, you then want to grab your section of hair and just gently twist it.
And you can play with it, if you want, till you get it to how you like how it looks.
Then I’m just going to go ahead and clip this in place.
Now I’m going to move onto my front sections because my front sections are long.
I’m going to pin these back now before I do the French Twist.
But if you have shorter front sections, you can leave them down and fix them later.
I’m just going to clip each side over the back of my little bump.
Now I’m going to move onto the French Twist.
So I’m going to start off by combing all my hair to one side, just comb it to whatever side you feel comfortable with.
Now, I’m going to place some clips in a line up the back of my head, so that it makes it easier to roll my French Twist, and to keep my hair to one side.
And now, onto the French Twist.
I’m just going to grab all my hair, and I’m going to wrap it around two fingers to create a loop.
Then I’m going to pull this loop up, and twist it at the same time.
Tightly against my head.
And then I’m just going to leave the ends out for a minute, and I’m going to fan the hair that’s a bit loose up over my loop to try and hide it a bit.
Don’t worry about the ends for the moment, I’m just going to show you this again at normal speed.
So I’m just going to wrap the hair around two fingers, to create a loop.
Then I’m going to pull this up, and twist it at the same time, tight against my head.
So after I did my loop, I then just fanned any loose hair up over , to try and hide it a bit.
Now for the most important part, we’re going to clip the French Twist.
So you want to face the clip away from your french twist, and then back towards it.
Again: Grab a little bit of hair from the French twist, and place your clip away from the French twist, and then back towards it to keep it nice and secure.
So I’ve place 3 or 4 clips in my hair, and I’m still holding the loop, and I’m going to let go now, because I think it’s nice and secure.
Now you just want to just fix up your twist.
So just comb over any hair that you would like, and if you have ends sticking out like mine, Or your hair is longer than mine, you could always tuck it into the side of your French twist for the moment.
But I’m going to tuck mine into the bottom of my French twist, because I haven’t got that much hair.
And here is my French twist without any hair accessories.
I know it’s not perfect because this was my first time, so I still need a little bit of practice, but I hope you like it anyway, and I hope this tutorial was useful.
And here is what it looks like with a hair clip as well.
So now I’m going to do the same technique, this time without a bump.
Again I’m just going to wrap my hair around two fingers, to create a loop.
Pull it up and twist it at the same time.
Then again, you want to make sure that you pin it nice and secure.
So place the clip away from your twist ,and then back towards your twist to keep it nice and secure.
Then you just want to fix up any bits you don’t like.
Again if you have longer hair, you can tuck it into the side to hide it.
I did that, and I also tucked some of the ends underneath the bottom of the twist.
And here is my finished French twist without a bump.
